How to Add a VAT or Tax ID to Your Ninety Billing

Companies with a billing address outside the United States can add a VAT number, GST or HST number, ABN, or other business tax ID to their Ninety billing, either when they subscribe or later from Manage billing. Adding a tax ID is optional. Owners and Admins on the Essentials, Accelerate, Thrive, and Legacy plans can add or update it. For an overview of how billing works, see Billing and Payments Overview.

Who can add a tax ID

Adding a business tax ID to Ninety billing is open to companies that meet all the following:

  • Role. You're an Owner or Admin. These are the only roles that can open billing settings.

  • Plan. You're subscribing to, or already on, a paid plan: Essentials, Accelerate, Thrive, or Legacy.

  • Billing address. Your billing address is in any country outside the United States. The tax ID option doesn't appear for US billing addresses.

The label on the tax ID field changes to match the country you choose. For example, an Irish address shows IE VAT and a German address shows DE VAT. US organizations that are exempt from sales tax follow a different process, described in Accurate Billing for Tax-Exempt Organizations on Ninety.

Note: A tax ID is optional. If you leave it blank, checkout and billing work as usual.

Add a tax ID when you subscribe

You can add your business tax ID during checkout when you first choose a paid plan. Owners and Admins can follow these steps:

  1. Click your profile icon at the bottom of the left navigation.

  2. Click Billing from the popup menu.

  3. Click Explore Plans.

  4. Click Select Plan on the plan you want.

  5. Enter your card details in the payment form. For other payment options, see Updating Your Payment Method.

  6. Under Billing address, choose your country and enter your address.

  7. Select I'm purchasing as a business.

  8. Under VAT information, enter your business name and your tax ID.

  9. Click Save, then confirm your subscription.

Ninety saves the tax ID to your company's billing details.

Add or update a tax ID on an existing subscription

If your company already subscribes to Ninety, an Owner or Admin can add a tax ID or change the one on file from the billing portal:

  1. Click your profile icon at the bottom of the left navigation.

  2. Click Billing from the popup menu.

  3. Click Manage billing in your current plan card.

  4. Click Update information under the Billing information section. Your current tax ID, if you have one, appears in this section next to Tax ID.

  5. Under Tax ID, choose the tax ID type for your country and enter the number. To add a second ID, click Add another ID.

  6. Click Save.

The tax ID must match the format for its country, including the country prefix (for example, DE for Germany). If the format doesn't match, the billing portal won't save it.
