How to Change Your Subscription Plan in Ninety
Owners and Admins can change their company's subscription plan or billing cycle at any time from the billing page (Company Settings > Billing). Upgrades take effect immediately, while downgrades apply at the start of your next billing cycle. You can also switch between monthly and annual billing, with annual subscriptions offered at a 10% discount.
Changing your subscription plan

Ninety offers three paid subscription tiers: Essentials, Accelerate, and Thrive. Each tier includes different features and tools. You can compare plans on the Ninety pricing page.
To change your subscription plan:
- Click your profile icon at the bottom of the left navigation.
- Click Billing from the popup menu.
- Click Explore Plans.
- Click Select Plan on the plan you want to switch to.
- Review the summary of changes, including any prorated charges or credits.
- Click Confirm.
Note: Only Owners and Admins can change subscription plans. If you don't see the Explore Plans option, check your role in the Directory.
What happens when you upgrade
When you upgrade your subscription plan (for example, from Essentials to Thrive), the change takes effect immediately. You'll have access to the new plan's features right away.
You're charged a prorated amount for the difference between your old plan and new plan, based on the time remaining in your current billing period:
- For monthly subscriptions, this covers the remaining days of your current month.
- For annual subscriptions, this covers the time remaining until your next annual renewal.
Starting at your next renewal, you'll be charged the full price of the new plan.
What happens when you downgrade
When you downgrade your subscription plan (for example, from Thrive to Essentials), the change applies at the start of your next billing cycle. You'll keep access to all features of your current plan until your renewal date.
No prorated refund is issued for the remaining time on the higher plan. If your team relies on features available only on the higher plan, make sure to wrap up any work that depends on those features before your next billing cycle begins.
Switching between monthly and annual billing
We offer annual subscriptions at a 10% discount compared to monthly billing. You can switch between monthly and annual billing from the same Explore Plans screen.
To switch your billing cycle:
- Click your profile icon at the bottom of the left navigation.
- Click Billing from the popup menu.
- Click Explore Plans.
- Choose between the Monthly billing and Annual billing options at the top of the plan selection screen.
- Click Select Plan on your current plan to confirm the billing cycle change.
- Review the changes.
- Click Confirm.
When switching from monthly to annual, the change takes effect at your next billing cycle. Your first annual payment will be calculated at the discounted annual rate.
When switching from annual to monthly, the change takes effect at the end of your current annual period. You'll continue on your annual plan until that period expires, then switch to monthly billing at your next renewal.
Troubleshooting
Issue: You don't see the option to change plans. Solution:
- Only Owners and Admins can change subscription plans. Check your role in the Directory.
- If you're an Owner or Admin and still don't see the option, clear your browser cache and refresh the page.
- If the issue persists, contact support.
Issue: You upgraded but were charged more than expected. Solution:
- Upgrades include a prorated charge for the difference between your old and new plans for the remainder of your current billing period.
- Review the confirmation screen or your next invoice for a line-by-line breakdown of the charges.
- If the amount still looks incorrect, contact support with your company name and the date of the plan change.
Issue: You downgraded, but still have access to higher-tier features. Solution: This is expected. Downgrades apply at the start of your next billing cycle, not immediately. You'll retain access to your current plan's features until your renewal date.
